A LITTLE LESSON IN BRAND PRONUNCIATIONS + AMAZING NEW ADDITIONS!
Last weekend I escaped the forever schedule of family & office commitments for a weekend in Melbourne with one of my nearest & dearest pals for their significant bday! We’ve been close for many many years & were lucky enough to travel the world together during our careers in music television, so was a real blast to catch up again & have nothing to do but burn some cash shopping & eating (of course with a little vino!)…. Spending an exhilarating time out of your usual routine is amazing to get the creative juices flowing again, and needless to say connecting with like-minded girlfriends is essential for the soul!!
Whilst pounding the pavement between stores I commented on her great teal hued Supergra sneakers & she had a chuckle!! ‘it’s not pronounced Super-gra, its pronounced su-perga’!! Oops I did it again!! A few years back I wrote a blog after another fashion pronunciation faux-pas disaster at a high-end designer sale, & was thanked for saving a few of you from future embarrassment!!!
For the rest of the weekend we’d pop-quiz each other on how we pronounce various labels we love, the results were some correctly and some not so much….so here’s a little list I’ve broken down below with just a sprinkle of the globe’s newest hottest labels that you may have been pondering exactly how to say out loud!!
Anne Demeulemeester: ann de-mule-eh-meester
Comme des Garçons: comb ey gah-sown
Dries Van Noten: dreez vahn NO-ten

Maison Martin Margiela: may-sohn martin mar-jhell-ah
MIU MIU: mew mew

This is just a few of thousands of brands you may adore, but at least it’s a start to perfect your fashion vocabulary!
